Kigali, 17 August 2012
In Kigali over 80 members of the political parties FDU-INKINGI and PS Imberakuri, in support of the action taken to the International Criminal Court (the Hague, Netherlands) by opposition members and civil society activists in exile, marched from the Kigali Maximum Prison to the nearby Richard Kant’s Museum. The police arrested 13 but later released them after threats to be tried for illegal protest and subversive activities.
The unrelenting pressure on the regime in Kigali to open the political space and to halt any support to negative forces in the region may lead the country to unpredictable disintegration. The wheel of change has entered a new pace.
Rwanda is our country and we are the one to make democratic changes we are starving for.
FDU-INKINGI Chair, Ms Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza is still detained in Kigali central prison since October 2010 for politically motivated charges awaiting a verdict on 07 September 2012.
